What
will it be Like in God's coming Kingdom?
Will the Kingdom of God be boring, or beyond our Wildest Dreams?
We have good reasons to believe that God's Kingdom will be lots of fun and surprises, if not beyond our Wildest Dreams. God's Himself will also be among us, and in us.
Although there will not be "marriage" as it is or has been on earth, we will all be "Married" to the Lord, our God. God is the One who invented all life forms, including men and women who were made in His image: Gen. 1:26-27. God also invented food, intimacy, pleasure, and sex. And since these things exist on earth, we should not be surprised if they also exist in God's coming kingdom. In fact, we have reason to believe that relationships, fun, and intimacy will be even better.
For example, Psalm 145:15-20 says that,
"The eyes of all look to Thee, and Thou dost give them their food in due time. Thou dost open Thy hand, and ... satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and kind in all His deeds. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them. The Lord keeps all who love Him; But all the wicked He will destroy."
Psalm 16:11 tells us that in God's presence is "fullness of joy" and in His right hand are "pleasures forever." And since God is called the God of truth, we have every reason to believe that the above words are true.
We also know that we will be like Jesus. For example, 1 John 3:1-2 says:
"See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it does not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on him purifies himself, just as He is pure."
The fact that we don't know "as yet what we shall be," doesn't mean that we can't speculate or make an educated guess: based on what we have been told. For example, Jesus Himself tells us in Rev. 21:4-5 that He is going to "make all things new." This means, not only a New Heavens and a New Earth, but also new bodies for us. See also 2 Cor. 5:1-9.
Other Scriptures tell us we will still eat and drink. For example, see Isa. 25:6-9; Luke 24:36-43, and Rev. 22:1-2.
We also know that after His resurrection, Jesus could appear and/or disappear. From this we can speculate that the game of "hide and seek" in God's kingdom will be different, if not more fun, than it has been on earth: and that we can never be certain who might be watching us, or following us in secret.
So what about women?
Since, according to Jesus, we be "like" angels, some Bible scholars have suggested that since there are no examples of female angels in Scripture, that no female angels exist. This suggests that women be converted into males, or that there will be no difference in the sexes. In this regard we are not told very much about angels in Scripture. In fact we are only told the names of three of them. We are also told that their is "neither male nor female" in Christ: Gal. 3:28.
We are also told that God has both sons and daughters (Isa. 43:6-7) in His coming kingdom and will even use them to "make a new thing" in the Earth. This is also spoken in context of not forgetting women: Jer. 31:22.
In conclusion we are told that "None of those who believe in Him (i.e. Jesus) will be disappointed." Rom. 9:33, 10:11, Isa. 28:16, 51:11, and I Pet. 2:6-7. See also I Cor. 2:9; Psalm 31:19, 32:10, and Rev. 22;12-14.
So there you have it.
